Rainwater Harvesting System

Lying on the former pathways of Don River, Dallington Park is crisscrossed with former tributaries of the river system. As the garden is situated on these pathways, and the neighbourhood has faced major flooding in 2005, the volunteers worked with city staff and architects to design a Rainwater Harvesting System. Serving as a demonstration site, the project will showcase three innovative solutions to capturing rainwater, storing it and using it for irrigation purposes. Diverting storm run-offs to cisterns will help with stormwater management. water and mitigate the risks of flooding in the face of climate change. In times of drought, it will help with much needed water conservation and build resilient communities.
